Rascals

Prepare your college courses/ninja stars ladies and gentlemen; we are officially going to hell. Rascals was made a by a black guy who’s part of Katbox.net’s staff. The comic itself is glorified cheesecake porno, and it has been horribly showing on every single trope/trivial there is with a roommate base animu and weaboos. The protagonist is some kid named Chrissy Mcloud (Not even close to a good fursona nickname) and apparently she just register into a unisex dorm based college. Which is kinda strange on how she does not know this information, you would think that this would be a warning label in college orientation at least.  She meets her future love interest Gary-Study named Quick, and the comic proceeds to show more of characters along the way. A particular annoyance of mine is this character named Rei, Rei is a pink bunny rabbit who basically shows up and just does sexual acts to everyone. Who cares if it is unwanted or not! It’s the “booby fan anime girl” trope to protect Rei from some of the bullshit that she pulls off! And no, just because she gets into one argument with her tiger boyfriend does not mean that she's basically scott free from the trope. It just tells us that the trope works whenever the author feels like it. And that's poor writing at its own reward!

But to give some historical rhetoric, this comic jumped from one hosting site to another. Which was called PetiteSymphony which is run by Luna a anime lesbian fan who will get her review sooner than later, now its on Katbox. Just when you thought Moora was enough for the site, it shows this shit. I think this comic needs to be reviewed, not because of the overzealous artwork but for the horrible plotline, and the constant bland perspective of all of the characters that have shown any form of interest.

Holy Furry Sameface Batman. While I get that it might be difficult to vary different characters' and/or species' muzzles in this particular style (although clearly this artist can: http://rascals.katbox.net/comic/rascals-pg-13/), at least give the main character proper ears. Seriously, according to the cast page, she's a civet. Shouldn't she have rounded ears, more like the bear's? Civets are not cats, dammit. Author didn't care enough to do the research and, as a furry artist, they have no excuse.

Also, this is not how college works: http://rascals.katbox.net/comic/rascals-pg-14/.

Yeahhh, plenty to pick apart with this one.

Also I love it how the protagonist thinks that she was raped by her love interest and his response is "Chrissy I love you so muc-" No motherfucker, you should had immediately rebuttal with " I didn't have sex with you at all. Fuck off and never talk to me again". Like any being should.

I think what bugs me the most about Katbox comics, isn't that they have giant boobs, paper thin writing or is mostly spank material, but that the faces on the characters look way too anime styled and flat, and that they don't look like the animals they're suppose to be, they all have the same FLAT faces.

I say go for it.  It's actually more enjoyable to see a webcomic picked apart that looks good on the surface, rather than one that looks like obvious shit.

Turns out they have a loooooot more where this came from.

AFAIK katbox comics seem to be quite adept at taking existing comics from other places and then rehosting them on their site

as for the comic itself: fucking hell

The worst part IMO is the art. The artist obviously knows how to apply shading. Clothes and limbs are well shaded - but the faces... they're kept 100% flat. What the shit?

A number of the webcomics I reviewed have had this same problem.  I cannot understand why so many people miss this detail when drawing.

especially when humans are hardwired to look at faces first - if the shading was done the other way around, with flat colors on the body, but depths and shadows on the face, then I'm not even sure we would notice

I think the reason so many artists fall for the same-face syndrome is because they work to please themselves: they find a look they like, create a doll out of it and dress it up however they like, creating the newest ripoff of Barbie and its million variants. They don't even hide it when it comes to cheesecake comics, the artist is the first thing that matters in them, their m.o. is "screw the readers, they'll take whatever I make public because I'm in control, so lets give that pair of boobs some scribbled face and call it a day". If they were serious about making a sexy comic with good natured fun (as far as that allows) they would strive to be like the guys from Oglaf, that comic knows how to turn sex and its quirks into a hilarious ride.
As for this comic in particular, I say a review would benefit the world, its one of those tumors that seem benign at first but with time grows to the point it chokes your blood stream.

(Edit: I'm making too many typos, my brain must be really tired.)
