To make it simple:
Also, when was the last time the Sausage Party blog updated? How do we know if she's been doing this recently?
- People want to help artist
- A bunch of assholes come in and start whining about everything and drown out what few legitimate helpful criticism there is
- Assholes ruin the reputation of everyone in the eyes of the artist
- Artist is understandably pissed and ignores them
- Assholes continue ruining everything
- Good artist loses motivation and creates content at a much slower pace
- Good artist's reputation is smeared because of assholes
I actually have to agree with you, to an extent.
This thread did start out as a way to try and help Vivienne improve herself as an artist, and also her attitude. But I think after Zoophobia starting going down in flames is when things kind of spiralled down. Now, it's just a bunch of nitpicking, complaining and half-criticisms with the rare legitimate criticism.
However, that does not mean Vivienne is 100% innocent. She did resist the criticism given to her from us and acted like an immature child to various situations, which is something a budding artist or animator should not and cannot do in the business. If you are planning to enter the business, you have to understand your limits and issues and try to work on them. Vivienne has not done so and in some cases has regressed in places.
At this point, I feel sorry for Vivienne. I really thought at some point, maybe she'd see what she was doing was potentially damaging her career, but no; she went and ruined everything with her poor attitude. Is there still some glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe she can get it together? Yes. But the chances of that are rather slim considering what she's devolved into. And even if she does, what's going to be the cause? Our review didn't work, Dolly didn't work, Encyclopedia Dramatica didn't work, how much lower can someone possibly sink until someone says enough is enough?
Until this answer can be properly answered, I think it is fair to say that there is virtually nothing more to say about Vivienne. She will go down in history as the biggest author self-destruction in Bad Webcomics Wiki history. Not just for her behavior or her attitude or her choices, but for the potential she once and maybe still had inside.
And honestly, this my friends is where we should leave her. Maybe we can come back in about one or two years and see if anything has changed, but until then; let us agree that this discussion ended several pages ago. The time has come to move on, I have. So should you. On behalf of everyone, I would like to wish a fond farewell and a sincere thank you to Vivienne Medrano. Your comic caught fire here on these forums like i've never seen and likely never will see again. It wasn't the worst comic ever, but with the antics and controversy that followed it; it made discussions about it fun and inspiring.
But the biggest reason for my thanks is that you have shown all of us how an artist should not act to the things that they will have to deal with in the future. Whether you know it or you don't, you made many budding or future artists much better by showing them the wrong way; and giving the professors here an opportunity to demostrate the right way to do it. And it is for the reason, that I offer an heart-felt thanks and a plea for peaceful co-existance from us to you.
And so, I ask you friends; to let this be where our discussion of her's ends. At least, for now. Maybe sometime down the road, we'll look back at this and wonder "Damn, how did we get here?" But for now, it's time to close the book on this chapter of Bad Webcomics and begin anew.
